After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You question about the purpose of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of bedhead hair. I couldn't do it to look decent. As I was running out the door, I stumbled and landed all over the floor. To make matters worse, I was extremely late for work.
I flustered. My {boss|friend|was absolutely furious. I attempted to explain, but it was no use.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
